The consultancy work was completed and the Board, Pastors and senior leaders had a good strategic planning meeting in Batam.

Sam Ng’s father’s medical condition showed “much improvement; his PSA has further reduce to 0.09 (from 13.6 in Apr 09, to 0.26 in July 09); the only black spot (cancer) in his bone also has become smaller”.

Siau is stronger and may start his work soon albeit at a slow pace.

We have short-listed a Church Administrator candidate.

PRAY:

1. For the final examinations that young people are going through this period: O and A levels, Poly and Universities, etc. Grace and peace to cope with the stress, and a strong trust in the Lord not just for exams but for their whole future.

2. For the missions trips to Myanmar: a youth group and an adult family cell group(Angela Lim’s cell). For anointing to make a difference in the peoples lives; and for God to touch and teach all the participants. For protection, healt and wonderful learning experience. For the leaders to serve and lead well.

1st Team: 28 Nov – 4 Dec: Pastor Mary, Pastor Thomas, Lim Zheng En, Zephaniah Tan, Dione Ling, Raina Lim Jasper Lim, Simone Wong, Rebekah Chua and Marshall Teo.

2nd Team: 3 December 09 – 9 December 09: Lee Khin Thern, Ruby Tan, Samuel Lee, Adeline Low, Angela Pang, Madeline Wong and Matthew Wong.

3. For the recruitment of Children’s pastor for the Good News Kids. We have tried Malaysian contacts, Singaporean contacts, and not a single application has arrived. Pray the Lord of the harvest will send a labourer to us.

4. For all the pastors and missionaries as they go through changes and transitions in their lives and do the detailed planning resulting from the consultancy and strategic planning retreat at Batam.

5. For all the families and folks to be blessed in their “going out and coming in” during the vacation period.

6. For Simon and Rinda in their retreat ministry in Chiangmai, usually one of their busier periods, that the Lord will meet with many of the retreatants “face to face”.

7. For the Board of Elders who have completed half the year of service. Another six months of serving and loving and leading God’s people. Pray especially for the President Alvin Lim.

Pray in your cell groups, prayer groups, families and privately:

1. Pray for God’s grace to be upon the church as we go through many changes, but especially hold up the pastoral staff and board of elders in love and prayer.

2. The church consultant has practically finished his work. Pray for the Board of Elders, pastoral staff and key persons as they go on retreat to pray and plan the church direction for the next several years.

3. Pray for the recruitment of a church administrator and pastor (children ministry). The right person would be found and he or she would be a blessing and be blessed in the service of the Lord.

4. For our partner Pastor John in Yangon, Myanmar. Pastor Thomas has just gone there to encourage and refresh him, train leaders using MLM, and also to see the progress of the church building project(Look oout for the pictorial report which will be posted soon).

5. Pray for our young people preparing themselves for major exams. Its easy to be discouraged, distracted and feel like giving up. They need our prayers as they fulfill their responsibilities before God in studies. For parents to be encouraging, sensitive and supportive during this time.

6. For all who attended and completed Alpha Course, that they will build on the solid foundation they have received and will grow in grace and in the knowledge of God and be salt and light to other non-Christians.

7. For all cell group leaders to be revitalized even as they feel weary at times. Pray for unity and faithful and supportive cell members to use their gifts and abilities to serve one another in the cell groups.

* for cell groups to be refreshed in the Holy Spirit, and relationships to enter a deeper level of honesty and trust and love.

*for a Project Grace team and chairman, which we have been trying to put together without success so far.

*for Agnes Chua, as she takes on her new ministry function as cluster leader of the 4 young adult cell groups. She needs to be full of the Spirit, wisdom and grace (Acts 6).

* for our working members as they trust God through what the government had warned would be the worst economic downturn Singapore has ever faced. Pray they will have the peace and strength of God in the midst of this crisis.

* for the couples who have signed up for the Alpha Marriage Course, that the Lord would use the videos and workbook discussions to enrich their relationships, and that those who do not know Christ will see Him.

*for the nomination and election of new elders that the Lord will give wisdom and grace to the church in its choices. The AGM will be in April 2009.

*for our missionaries and their families and ministry.

*for all foreign workers and residents in Singapore to be treated with dignity, respect and kindness. For our churches, including ours, to be gracious and hospitable to all.

* for all our worship services in February to experience the great presence and love of God in a dynamic and real way; for the preaching, singing, praying to stir up, freshen and renew our first love for the Lord.

About a hundred churches in Yangon city do so in apartments, rented places, etc. My source just back from Yangon tells me he is aware of the meeting but is not sure what the reaction of the churches were. He said this is not the first time that they had gathered leaders and pastors to tell them to stop. Apparently, in the past noise and complains of Buddhist neighbours were the main reasons, but now we wonder if there could be other fears at play.
