There were 12 guests and as usual, some did not turn up but God surprised us with last minute appearance of new guests and they are the hungry ones. 6 of them wanted to attend church and know more about God. 1 of them immediately responded by attending his church last Sunday. He has not been attending church for almost a year.

We flowed with the Spirit and did not follow the structured program. E.g. we skipped 3 songs and went immediately to food and share during dinner after Kay summarized the Movie. We believed hearts were touched and they went back with a joyful heart. Two of them came for the Captivated by Love event put up by the young people on Saturday. To God be the Glory.

It was the 19th of December and the Christmas celebration began with dinner. Earlier they had streamed in with presents for the gifts exchange. People sat around tables and chatted. There was a bumper 37 guests who turned up for the party. After a relaxed catered dinner, it was time for an icebreaker. There was much laughter and movement and both young and old enjoyed themselves thoroughly. Then we sang several popular well known Christmas carols and showed a meaningful locally produced video of how an ex-stewardess who was a gambling addict was transformed by God’s power and grace. Lily Koh followed this up with her story of how Christ set her free from a gambling addiction too. How relevant these were as the integrated resorts and casinos were opened just a few months ago for “business”. Then everyone broke into groups and shared their stories too. It was a meaningful Christmas.

Praise God that Jorris Oh is up and about and that Yip’s colon operation was  a success. The Blast event involving the youth and young adults also went wildly well.

Pray for:

WORLD :

All our missionaries ( Simeon, Salome, Stephen), associates (Ken and Valerie) and the mission trippers to Myanmar.

For all the cells to be fully motivated to invite friends and full of the Holy Spirit and boldness as they share their testimony or the John 3:16 with the visitors to the Christmas event. For many pre-believers to respond positively to the invitations of church members to Christmas events of youth, young adults, and all the services, including the GNK.

REVIVAL:

For the fruit of the Spirit to develop and the spritual gifts to be released among our people.

For the leaders in the worship ministry exco (Kenny, who will be replaced next year by Daniel Yuen, Cavelyn, XieXin, Sarah Phua, Peter Lim), and the ushers ministry (Sunny Chong), and the pulpit committee (Kenny, Paul, Simon) to be full of the Holy Spirit and wisdom to equip and improve the competencies and heart of worship in the various teams.

PRAYER:

That everyone will respond to the Spirit’s call to intimate and intercesorry prayer individually, as couples and families, in cells, in formal and informal groups.

There will be a deepening and consistency in the life of prayer in pastors, BOE, Cell and ministry leaders in the church. May the Lord grant grace and power of the flesh.

FELLOWSHIP:

For more mature cell members to be willing to do basic follow up with those who have or who will come to Christ this Christmas.

For all the cell leaders and interns to be graced and strengthened to intentionally make disciples of the WRPF kind, through thoughtful facilitation of the 4 W’s and motivating members to practise the Word application agreed upon.

For unity of the Spirit to be maintained in the church. For conflicts to be resolved; for offences to be healed; for Satan to be exposed and defeated in his attempts to divide cells, relationships, families and congregations.

Though Christianity Explored had come to an end, the effects and impact made in the lives of the participants would last for a long time.

These are the last 2 testimonies of the 11 week course.

With the completion of 11 weeks study on the book of Mark, the Course celebrated with a Fondue Party. During this period, closer bonds were built and most gleaned valuable lessons through the study. Most went away from the gourse gaining a deeper understanding of their faith in Jesus.

This time the Focused Living 2 network meets from house to house. The nature of the workshop is group work and lots of interaction and as such necessitates a small group size. This was held over from the previous waiting list and since most of the participants lived in the west it was decided that the meetings be held in the homes of various participants.

The topics covered include: The Timeline; The Calling; Mentoring. The facilitators are Abraham Sim, ps Kenny Chee, and trainee Mark Cheong.
