Here’s a picture of us when we had a Missions, Interim and Short-Term (MIST) training. As you can see we are all in multicultural costumes. We took that picture after a exercise on cultural exchange. We only recently just have some idea of our itinerary, because originally we were supposed to do work in Bihar but due to unforseen circumstances we had our programme switched to Kolkata. In any case, now we would be there over Christmas so we have been asked to prepare Christmas songs, and we can expect to act out a skit perhaps, reaching our to children and youths (both studying and working) in church. They have even suggested soccer outreach, which is obviously of great interest to me and Moses! I’m really excited…please pray for us.
Prayer Points:
1. India. For peace after the general election and wisdom for leaders in ruling this nation. Poverty is still a major concern in various parts of North India particularly.
2. Spiritual preparation + protection. As the date draws closer, I am aware of the spiritual warfare that is taking place. Please pray for our walk with God to be fervent and disciplined, and for our hearts to be prepared for the unexpected.
3. Finances. We came to a realisation yesterday that our expenses have exceeded our initial budget, with more to come. We believe that God will provide, and will continue to trust in His perfect timing.
4. Itinerary. We are still awaiting news from the other side of India with regards to our trip’s itinerary. We have been told to be spontaneous and prepared for whatever plans they have organized for us but it would be good to have a rough idea of the projects that we’ll be involved in.

Thank God for His grace! It has been 7 years since I was diagnosed with having left ovarian cancer, and God has given me a clean bill of health every year.
Recently I went back for a routine check up. My doctor was shocked because he found a 5cm cyst on my right ovary. To be safe, my doctor advised me to have a key hole operation to remove the cyst due to my medical history. I was very reluctant at that time, because I do not wish to go through another operation. Furthermore, as I am a dance instructor, I did not wish to stop teaching dance classes for at least 2 to 3 weeks. After much negotiation with my doctor, he agreed to let me have 2 weeks grace period before going back for a review. If the cyst is still there, I will have to agree to go for the operation.
During these 2 weeks the only hope to let me avoid the operation is to pray and really learn to have faith and to trust in God. Daily I told God my real feelings. I was unwilling to go for the operation. It was interesting that before my check up, the Lord had been showing me Mark 6 “Jesus walks on water”. In addition, verse 50 in Mark 6 spoke to me so loudly, “Take courage! It is I, Don’t be afraid”. During the two weeks of waiting, I had to learn to lean on this promise of Jesus.
Two weeks later, I went back to the clinic for another round of ultra sound scan and to my surprise, my cyst had reduced to 2cm. Praise the Lord! God heard my prayers. I was elated, because it meant no operation for me. However, my doctor still wanted me to go back for monthly check ups. This time round, I learn to pray by faith. When I left the clinic, I told God the next in the next appointment, the cyst will be gone in the name of Jesus.
Just a few days ago, I went back for a scan. The doctor found no cyst in my right ovary. God has removed the cyst completely. Indescribable joy exploded within me on hearing the news.
In the last few weeks I have learned that God will answer prayers and He is always there for me. I seriously thought that the cyst would not be gone, and at most maintain its size, but God surprised me by removing it completely!
I now have a stronger faith within me when I pray for impossible things. God reminded me once again that He is a faithful God who will answer prayers and always wants the best for His children.
I worship a faithful God and He will always be my best friend. (by Gracee)

“BE STILL BEFORE THE LORD, AND WAIT PATIENTLY FOR HIM.” (PSALM 37:7)
PRAY……….
1. That the Lord, in the church’s 38th year, will empower us to set forth on the path of progress and growth in our mission. Thank God the church has not sunk as some said it would, but is on even keel. Now the course for the coming years have been drawn out by the navigators. Its time for all hands on deck, each doing his part, to move the ship onward. Pray for cohesiveness and sustained application and implementation.
2. For the board of elders to be strong and courageous as it works with the pastors to move the church in the direction set out during the excellent planning retreat.
3. For the Lord to help us find suitable candidates to fill two positions: Church Administrator and Children’s Pastor.
4. For the Lord to have mercy and the international aid agencies and donor countries to be quick in showing up to help the Philippines, Samoa, and Indonesia. The devastation was caused by typhoon, underwater earthquake and land earthquake.
5. For Mahal our Filippino member whose family house was badly affected. Also for her church in Manila, especially the poorer members who need help. Pray that more help will come to them besides what our church will do.
6. Pray for Stephen Tay as he prays about his future; for Simeon Siau to gain new strength and divine health; and our other missionaries in sensitive countries. Pray also for Jude Ng as he has decided to take a further step by applying to take the next step in the missions track of our church. This entails attending the School of Foreign Missions, YWAM.
7. Pray for the youth exco headed by Dr Sharon Sim and team as they pray and plan and plough on. And also for Pastor Mary who is currently resting for two months.
8. Pray for the pastoral staff as they do detailed planning and calendering for 2010 before they submit them to the BOE and the head of depts to guide their budgetting.
