We have clarified and defined the kind of disciple we want to make. This was based on study of Scripture, discussions and refinement by the many leaders of our church from the different services. The traits of the disciple can be categorized under the church name, World Revival Prayer Fellowship. But how are we going to make this disciple?

Lord mould us as we worshipOne of the main ways is to look at where most of the people gather together frequently and to ensure they become good learning and transformation places. The Sunday worship service and the cell meeting are where we have the most time to shape and form the minds and hearts and lives of our people for transformation. They are the main programs.

This means that we have to be deliberate, systematic and wholistic in what we impart on Sundays and in the cell groups. These are the hours where our people have offered themselves to be open to God’s Spirit and Word and trusted people to influence and change their lives.

“Wholistic” means that we have to look beyond just cognitive understanding of a trait. So for a trait like prayer, besides teaching on prayer, we also do a project or avenue for people to exercise a prayer habit; and a way for them to feel its impact; and an environment and method of encouragement and accountability to ensure the trait is developed.

It’s no longer hit and run and hope for the best. Its intentional and thorough.”

church stationery

World Revival Prayer Fellowship is grateful for the pro bono work of EPIGRAM PTE LTD for the design work they have done. They designed our new logo and creative applications to church stationery like letterhead, envelopes, offering envelopes, notepads, church signage, church bulletin and stuff like T-shirts, caps etc.

Lord thanks for epigram!

Our former logo was from a church contest we conducted two decades ago. It served its purpose for that time. We have felt a need to change the logo but cost was a barrier. A providential meeting with Edmund Wee, the neighbour of the senior pastor’s wife led to a generous and gracious offer to do the design for wrpf. Edmund Wee is the founder and owner of this company which has won many prestigious design awards, both local and overseas. The company has many big clients of statutory boards and mult-national companies. He himself was awarded the President’s Design Award 2008.

church bulletin and name card

We sent all our former office stationery and the history, vision and strategy of our church and prayed and waited for Epigram to return with the design. When it came we were blown away with the creative use of the number 8 which was significant in our church’s origins as well as the biblical symbolic meaning of 8 as new beginnings, new life and resurrection. The doves in a flight of 8 placed diagonally to give it depth is a unique design that you will not find in any other church logo. Dove symbolizes the Holy Spirit and this church was birthed in revival. We were all thrilled and pleased with the design.

Richard, the guy who handled our “account”, was very patient and thorough, and serviced us well, even coming to the church premises twice to view the premises where the signage were to be placed. All this despite the case being done free of charge. The stationery and bulletin and others have been done. We are working on the church signage now.

We felt blessed! And we are grateful. May the Lord bless Edmund Wee and his company!

We are intent on making disciples together as a church and we have studied, prayed and discussed and agreed on the list of traits we want to develop in people whom the Lord entrusts to us. These are the traits in a nutshell:

WORLD: Evangelism and Missions-  Compelled, Compassionate, Community service
REVIVAL: Holy Spirit’s Work-  Spirit-empowered(gifts) and Spirit-guided(fruit)
PRAYER: Prayer- Intimacy and Intercessory Prayer
FELLOWSHIP: Discipleship in Community-  Discipleship, Servant-heart, Unity, Healing Community.

When you look at the traits you can see that it shows somewhat how God has been working in our church life to form these values. The traits resonates with our spiritual history and identity.

However, in the past, we have not deliberately, systematically sought to form these traits. We did not know how. Now we will do it in a deliberate, intentional way. Once we were vague about these traits, and they were incomplete. Now it is in written form and in black and white, and they represent what we want to inculcate in the believers God gives us.  -Pastor Kenny

Dear brothers and sisters:

“Bringers” play a very important part in the kingdom. Just as Andrew brought his brother Peter to Jesus, and Peter then believed, bringers bring their friends, families, acquaintances to places and events where they can learn or experience God.

The bringer is also like a host to the visitor. The bringer informs his cell group members that he will be bringing a guest so they will start praying.

The bringer also introduces the guests to his cell members, pastors and shows him around the church building so he is oriented.

The bringer with cell members can also take the guest out for lunch. If he finds the guest is ready, he can invite him or her to visit a cell group.

Bringers are important to WRPF and to the work of the Gospel. – Pastor Kenny Chee -

We went to Myanmar from 10 to 14 September 2009. With me was Wai Tuck and his son Conrad. Our objectives were to renew support of Pastor John’s work and inspect the church building’s progress, and secondly, to discuss and plan trips for November and December.

We went to renew our friendship with Sis Lin Young. She was formerly supported by our church through God’s Trio Partner. She was not feeling well when we visited her but through the sharing, we sensed that she was struggling in her pastoral ministry. The reason was she had spread herself too thin and she no longer focussed on church planting. Our visit was an encouragement to her as she had been thinking about us just a few days before.

From there we proceeded to visit Myanmar Compassionate Project (MCP), as usual Mr & Mrs Dal were very delighted to see us. MCP has shifted their office out of the city. Due to higher rentals, the MCP office has shifted to a double storey terrace. The office is situated on the top floor and the ground floor is a clinic. The present building belongs to Dr Dal, and the MCP has moved in rent-free. As for their future plan, Dr Dal shared that MCP owns a plot of land next door, which was donated by a Canadian couple. He plans to build a multipurpose building complex. He submitted his proposal for a multi- purpose building complex with some background detail of MCP to us.

Wai Tuck and I were impressed with the report they presented to us. The report was in regard to the S$15,000 the church donated to help to the people affected by the Nargis cyclone. Personally, I was impressed by their integrity and accountability to the last cent. Read more about the report HERE.

For the next 2 days, I conducted a Million Leaders Mandate Book Two training to about 45 people . Out of the 45 people, 22 are from Pastor John’s bible college student body. These 22 students are potential candidates for us to recruit for future church plants. The response was very encouraging and we felt a strong anointing.

We managed to get in touch with Mang No, a hardworking man and quite well respected in his own village. He has a church surrounded by poor people. He has a heart for the poor. We have a good time of fellowship and discussed about our December program.

We spent quite a lot of time with John and his family (one baby girl Lydia, 18 months old). John is fine and his ministry is slowly picking up. Our church donated money to buy land for church planting purposes. The foundation of the building was completed, and with the gift of an additional S$2000 from the church, he can now install all the 16 pillars and put up some walls and some parts of the ceiling. As for the ministry, we shared with him about potential church planters and effective strategies to plant more churches in Myanmar. We also discussed about how to help the local church workers to be self sufficient.

Lord let your glory rest on your people in this placeLet it go forth from here to the other people groupsMay your glory shine on the Myanmese people all around this building

John brought us to a small church on Sunday and the lady pastor is from the Bamar background. She is quite dynamic and we felt the need to network with her again in November and December.

Personally, I felt that the trip was good as the objectives set were achieved. It also indicates signalled to Pastor John that we were still committed to partnering him in church planting. (report by Pastor Thomas Tan; pics are recently received from John)
