Our missions fund donation of S$15,000 for the Nargis Cyclone rebuilding efforts have been used up. It was mainly used to build houses in villages in MM and L township. The NGO built a total of 26 one family houses in 20 different villages of which each has a population of about 600 people. Priority was given to building houses for the elderly and widows especially those with small children. Each of the houses cost Kyat 360,000.

Two water projects were also completed. A water pump was bought for Kyat 312,000 for PTL, a village of 600 people in MM township. They use it to pump water from the nearby river into a tank in the village. The water is purified in the tank before the villagers use it.  Two other small water tanks for Kyat 217,000 in KNSC village in L township were built.

Thank you for your generosity in the last Missions Sunday fund raising. The 2009 Missions Sundays are just round the corner on the 3rd and 10th of May 2009.

Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal; but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also. (Matthew 6:19-21)
